Regarding Third Lake:
- Public schools: children from Kindergarten up to grade 4, Avon Center School is the public school, followed by Frederick School for grades 5-6, Grayslake Middle School for grades 7-8, and Grayslake North High School for grades 9-12
- There are various daycare options in the area but facilities close to the neighborhood are The Goddard School and CLC
- Right at School offers after school care at Avon Center School (end of school day to 6pm).
- Summer camp program for school-aged kids through Grayslake Park District.
- For babysitters keep an eye on the Mariner’s Cove Facebook page as families will post older children who are looking to watch kiddos
- There is a pool at 250 Library Lane in Grayslake; there are daily and seasonal passes available
- The Grayslake Park District has numerous parks/playgrounds, offers events and programs, and has a golf course; Mariner’s Cove residents pay non-resident fees where applicable
- The Wildwood Park District also has parks/playgrounds and offers a variety of events and programs; Mariner’s Cove residents pay non-resident fees where applicable
- The Lake County Forest Preserve is a cherished resource in the county, with numerous forest preserves offering trails and educational opportunities, a museum, and other activities to all Lake County residents
- The LCFP maintains five dog parks; daily or seasonal registration is required
- All eligible residents are encouraged to register to vote, which can be done in person, by mail, or online
- In even-numbered years, the primary election is held on the third Tuesday in March, prior to the general election in November; in odd-numbered years, the election for township, municipal, and service district officials is held on the first Tuesday in April

- Avon Township is under contract to plow Mariner’s Cove streets - contact the Village Hall with complaints/compliments
- Most landscaping companies and a few Mariner’s Cove residents offer driveway plowing/shoveling; for the latter, the MCCA Facebook page is the way to make contact

- Parking is prohibited on Mariner’s Cove streets from 2:00am - 7:00am without having alerted the Village Hall
- Parking is prohibited on Mariner’s Cove streets within 12 hours of a snowfall of 1” or more

- There are two lakes in Mariner’s Cove, for Third Lake residents only; boat ramp keys can be obtained by emailing the board and providing your address. Druce Lake is electric motors only and Third Lake is an all-sports lake.
- There are two tot lots within Mariner’s Cove; one is at the north end of Seafarer, and the larger one is on Mainsail opposite Spinnaker
- Most of Mariner’s Cove is in Avon Township, while part is in Warren Township (map); your township determines your library district. Avon Township residents are in the Grayslake Library District and Warren Township residents use the Warren-Newport Public Library
- There is a Little Free Library near the curb at 401 Seafarer Drive as well as a Little Native Lending Library near the curb at 165 Mainsail Drive

- Rollins Savanna, due west of Mariner’s Cove, offers a variety of trails
- CLC has an extensive trail system accessed from the campus or via a blacktop path at the end of Caitlin Ct. in Meadows of Grayslake subdivision

- An Easter egg hunt is held the day before Easter at the large tot lot (on Mainsail, opposite Spinnaker)
- The Halloween parade is the Sunday before Halloween and departs from Cat Schooner
- The date for trick or treating is set by the Village of Third Lake and is announced both on their website and in The Village Vine
- The annual Mariner’s Cove garage sale occurs the weekend before Father’s Day
- Meet and Greet of MCCA board members and residents at the end of summer
Regarding Third Lake:
- The Third Lake Village Hall is at 87 North Lake Avenue, in the Sunshine Subdivision
- The Village Hall is open and staffed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and for about 30 minutes before board meetings
- There is a mayor and a board of trustees for the village
- The village organizes annual events such as a fishing derby and Venetian Night; these are announced in the village newsletter The Village Vine which is issued monthly and mailed to residents’ homes
- Boats are required to be registered with the state and the village
- All of Third Lake is contained within the 60030 zip code (which we share with Grayslake, Gages Lake, and Wildwood); our post office is at 75 Commerce Drive in Grayslake and is open Monday through Saturday
- Residents are permitted no more than four dogs and/or cats; all pets must be leashed when off your property. This is particularly important at night since there are coyotes and other predators roaming freely
